What is the Z Academy?
The Z Academy is a unique apprentice-style program designed to completely immerse students in the real life culture of a world-class global digital advertising agency. We send students to various locations around the world, and have them partner with our talented professionals to work on live projects for real global clients.

What makes the Z Academy different?
What separates the Z Academy from other internships is the combination of our international approach, and our focus on immersing Zeds in our real working culture. We don’t give you busy work; we give you work that keeps you busy. As a Zed, you experience what it’s actually like to work at a global digital advertising agency, in an exciting and potentially foreign country.

Where can I work?
Where do you want to work? In 2010, Zeds chose from Wunderman’s Seattle, New York City, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai offices. In 2011, the Z Academy will be expanding to include our offices and companies in Vancouver, Toronto, London, Washington DC, Irvine, Santa Monica, Berlin, Amsterdam, and several locations throughout Asia including Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan.

Will I just be dropped off in a foreign country alone?
No! Once you’re on the ground, we have a support team to help you with everything – from finding your way around to getting a haircut. We also make sure that you are not only given challenging work assignments, but that you are closely looked after at the office, offered help when you need it, and encouraged to learn as you go. And if there should ever be any sort of emergency (from a paper cut to a stolen passport), our team will know what to do.

How do you prepare students for the Z Academy?
All participating students receive a comprehensive “Zed Package” which includes everything from information on the country of your destination, to a list of important contacts, to a dedicated Facebook page for you to interact with your fellow Zeds.

I’m still a student – what if there is too much expected of me?
Our offices are fully aware that you are still learning and may not have a great deal of professional experience. While we model your Z Academy experience after a typical full time employee’s experience, we do everything we can – including providing you with a dedicated mentor – to help your learning continue.

Will I get paid?
Yes, all Zeds receive a stipend which will vary depending on location. You can be assured that the stipend will cover basic expenses, and some weekend fun.
Do you make full-time offers to Zeds after they finish the program?
To exceptional and interested participants, we will make full-time offers of employment after students have graduated college.

How long does the Z Academy last?
This will vary by school and country. We require Zeds to spend a minimum of 3 months in an office, but can extend a posting for up to 6 months depending on your school’s schedule.

It is actually a school?
No, the Z Academy is not a school. It is part of Wunderman’s Talent Management & Global Learning Program.
