Subject: IdeasTap are looking for Student Ambassadors

Hello,

We’re IdeasTap. We’re an online platform that helps young people break into the creative industries. We offer all kinds of resources including funding, a space to network, advice and workshops to enable emerging artists to develop talent. We’re also a charity – so we do all this for free.

We wanted to let you know about a fantastic opportunity for students that we currently have on our site.

We’re looking for student ambassadors to represent us on campus, organise events and encourage young creative folk to collaborate. In return, we’ll pay them £500 for one academic year and give them perks such as free headshots, work experience, CV and portfolio reviews too.

Successful applicants would start work for us after Easter, so this opportunity would ideally suit first year students. You can find out more here.

So if you know of any students who love the arts, have great communication and organisational skills, and who would benefit from this opportunity, please do pass this information on.

Want to learn more about IdeasTap and what we do? Visit us at www.ideastap.com or get in touch on Twitter or Facebook.

Best wishes,

The IdeasTap Team

The Z Academy
Frequently asked questions

What is the Z Academy?
The Z Academy is a unique apprentice-style program designed to completely immerse students in the real life culture of a world-class global digital advertising agency. We send students to various locations around the world, and have them partner with our talented professionals to work on live projects for real global clients.

What makes the Z Academy different?
What separates the Z Academy from other internships is the combination of our international approach, and our focus on immersing Zeds in our real working culture. We don’t give you busy work; we give you work that keeps you busy. As a Zed, you experience what it’s actually like to work at a global digital advertising agency, in an exciting and potentially foreign country.

Where can I work?
Where do you want to work? In 2010, Zeds chose from Wunderman’s Seattle, New York City, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai offices. In 2011, the Z Academy will be expanding to include our offices and companies in Vancouver, Toronto, London, Washington DC, Irvine, Santa Monica, Berlin, Amsterdam, and several locations throughout Asia including Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan.

Will I just be dropped off in a foreign country alone?
No! Once you’re on the ground, we have a support team to help you with everything – from finding your way around to getting a haircut. We also make sure that you are not only given challenging work assignments, but that you are closely looked after at the office, offered help when you need it, and encouraged to learn as you go. And if there should ever be any sort of emergency (from a paper cut to a stolen passport), our team will know what to do.

How do you prepare students for the Z Academy?

All participating students receive a comprehensive “Zed Package” which includes everything from information on the country of your destination, to a list of important contacts, to a dedicated Facebook page for you to interact with your fellow Zeds.

I’m still a student – what if there is too much expected of me?
Our offices are fully aware that you are still learning and may not have a great deal of professional experience. While we model your Z Academy experience after a typical full time employee’s experience, we do everything we can – including providing you with a dedicated mentor – to help your learning continue.

Will I get paid?
Yes, all Zeds receive a stipend which will vary depending on location. You can be assured that the stipend will cover basic expenses, and some weekend fun.
Do you make full-time offers to Zeds after they finish the program?
To exceptional and interested participants, we will make full-time offers of employment after students have graduated college.

How long does the Z Academy last?
This will vary by school and country. We require Zeds to spend a minimum of 3 months in an office, but can extend a posting for up to 6 months depending on your school’s schedule.

It is actually a school?
No, the Z Academy is not a school. It is part of Wunderman’s Talent Management & Global Learning Program.

I want in! What is the application process?
To apply to the Z Academy, use the following information to apply online, including a work sample and your resume.

The Women of the Year

Work Placement - Contact Tony Sampson

History:

The Women of the year Lunch was begun in 1955 by three adventurous women who sought better representation after the 2nd World War. Their aim was to bring together a wide cross section of women who had distinguished themselves in their lives, to recognise their achievements and enable them to meet each other and share views on important issues. In 2011 its purpose is the same.

The lunch is for women who might be unknown nationally and internationally but who have made a substantial difference in their communities. Hence, the actress might sit next to the sheep farmer, the woman cricketer with the long term foster mother, the renowned author with the naval officer. There is no “woman” of the year. The 400 or so women who meet at the lunch are all “women” of the year.

The Women of the Year Foundation, a charity which runs alongside and in association with Women of the Year, raises funds annually to donate to special projects worldwide.

Challenges:

• We have the opportunity to upgrade and improve the contact with women and become a lynch pin in the concerns of women.
• However the women that run Women of the Year all work voluntarily, and have full-time jobs. Managing the website could become burdensome.
• It needs to managed and reviewed regularly.
• How do we create a useful and proactive site and manage it at low cost?
